His day is over, his work is done, freedom is in sight
The rumble of the engine and the feel of the road
The sun in the sky or the moon at night
Takes away the cares and the daily load

So he rides the ironhorse,
The wind and a smile upon his face
The roar of the motor, the smell in the air
Give thoughts of another time and place

In days gone by he rode the wild open range
Now the open spaces are gone, times have changed
His freedoms are shrinking, but the rebel spirit is alive
Riding the ironhorse through the back roads
Helps his mind to survive

So he rides the ironhorse,
The wind and a smile upon his face
The roar of the motor, the smell in the air
Give thoughts of another time and place

The ride is over, too short to say the least
He has ridden the ironhorse and conquered his beast
Tomorrow will be a new day
When the sun on the pavement will point the way
